Poplar
This month, the
Virtual Paintout is in the town of Arles, France.
Vincent van Gogh spent his last years living and painting in Arles.
This drawing is a nod to
van Gogh's poplars and bright colors, with a few black birds for measure.
I found this scene using Google Maps Street View.
Done with Derwent Artists colored pencil, this drawing measures 4" x 6" or 10.2cm x 15.2cm.

Jennifer Rose...This one is done on a background of blue. It makes the orange work!
ReplyDeleteconbo...it's fun to visit the places where artists worked. That Bill Guffey...always thinking of those clever things! :)
Hi Rod! ... you have all the fun! :)
Denny...Thanks! I am a fan of your sense of colors and tones. Good stuff!
ooh, particularly lovely!
ReplyDeleteThose trees are on fire against that deep blue sky, and the way the weeds at the bottom are mostly shaded but lit up at their tops really sets off a sense of light. Good job!
